Here is my 3rd learning log. Much more complaints but you can see the journey during the 3rd week.
Week 3
This week started with marketing class with Madam Zawiyah. I like Madam Zawiyah style of learning but it is too fast for some of us. I understand the need to learn as fast as we can as we only have 14 weeks to complete the Principle of Marketing class which will be a big task but I think we will manage that. 1st presentation of the week is in marketing class and right now, I really like presenting although there is still some presentation skills that I need to polish.
Monday is a very packed day and thank god that marketing class in this semester has been moved to Wednesday evening. This will give some breathing space for all of us. This week free time has been dedicated for us to do some study group for Air Transport class. The class on Tuesday was postponed so we used that free time to have some critical thinking session of the 100 questions that we have created. It is really hard for us to choose the right question as we have no experience using PBL method. The most important part for me is to choose the right criteria of the 20 question that we needed. We discuss among ourselves about the criteria that we need to choose and I suggest we must justify the selection of the criteria of the question.
That Tuesday evening, we started working on X-Mind mind mapping software and doing our PowerPoint slide presentation. We put all our 101 questions and the criteria that we choose. The most difficult part is that choosing the 20 question with the criteria that we have chosen. We ended up having around 20+ question that met our own criteria. We do some brainstorming together to narrow down the question and get the 20 question that we needed. Although we finished picking the 20 question, I still not satisfy with what we done but this is the first time we do this so we will do better next time around.
On Thursday morning, 10.30 am, we start our class in theatrette 1. Haji started the class with his own usual style. By reminding us why we are here and the importance of PBL method. I think we need this kind of advice as we are managers now and we must think and act like a good manager. He talk about a logistics seminar that he attended and how the participant have all such problem that need answer and that why we here, to be able to ask the right question that can lead to the solution. The managers nowadays need to have an ability to think critically. He also advice us to improve our study log, which is why I try to write about the whole week 3 from the start but my memory does not serve me well. Nevertheless, these tasks help me to become a good writer, able to think critically and maybe I can put this log in my blog. Who know that my study log can be a help for student who want to study in this course and I will glad to help them.
Then the presentation started with the first group, Senju’s group about the space exploration. The LCD projector is not good enough for our presentation and I think MIAT should order more LCD Hitachi LCD projector which can give better projection of image from the laptop. Back to the topic, Senju’s group started the presentation. After the presentation finish, there will be the question and answer session. From my observation and I think from Haji’s point of view, we did not ask much question and I think we need to loosen up our mind and be brave to ask any question, no matter the question is right or wrong. From there on, I try to participate in as many Q & A question as I can.
Then it is our turn to present. In my opinion, our group presents the topic very well especially our leader. There is a lot of rough edges that need to be polished but I fairly satisfy with our group performance. Haji gives his opinion on the presentation skills to our group member and emphasize the importance of communicating with the audience, having an eye contact with them and maybe some good hand gesture. I will try to polish my skills on that. And then 3 other group present their topic and I try to participate on the Q & A session.
The session end and Haji give us some tips and advice for our presentation and tell us to divide the question for individual research. The class dismiss.
